Ways to Clean your Blend and Snap Sponge

Washing your makeup blender regularly is important to prevent buildup of product, bacteria, and oil, which can lead to skin issues. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to properly clean your makeup blender:

1. Rinse Under Warm Water

  • Start by holding your makeup blender under lukewarm water. Use your fingers to gently squeeze and release it to let the water soak in. Avoid using hot water as it can damage the sponge's material.

2. Apply Cleanser

  • You can use a dedicated makeup sponge cleanser, or a gentle baby shampoo, dish soap, or facial cleanser. Pour a small amount onto the blender or onto the palm of your hand.

3. Lather and Massage

  • Gently massage the cleanser into the blender using circular motions. You can also squeeze the blender to work the cleanser deeper into the sponge. Be patient with this step, as you want to break down the makeup residue.

4. Rinse Thoroughly

  • Hold the sponge under water again and gently squeeze it to release the makeup and cleanser. Keep rinsing and squeezing until the water runs clear and no more product comes out.

5. Repeat if Necessary

  • If you still see traces of makeup or if the sponge feels sticky, apply a small amount of cleanser and repeat the process.

6. Dry the Blender

  • After thoroughly rinsing, gently press the sponge between a clean towel to remove excess water. Avoid wringing or twisting it, as that can damage the sponge.
  • Leave your blender to air dry in a well-ventilated area, preferably with the cut side facing up, to allow air to circulate and prevent mold growth.

7. Clean Regularly

  • Ideally, wash your makeup blender after every 2-3 uses, especially if you're using it for liquid or cream products like foundation or concealer. For powders, you can clean it less frequently.
